I bought three and used two for gifts and one for myself. So handy to bring hot items to another home. And friends will notice - you will get ooohs and ahhhs.
I first bought these Pyrex Portables at a Corning Outlet Shop in Queenstown, MD about 12 yrs ago. It will serve your needs and do a good job besides. The women never seem to tire of carefully examining them and asking questions indicating they are suspicious and having a hard time believing any man could come up with something so simple and yet ingenious.
I use both the hot pac and the cold pac and find them entirely satisfactory. Chalk that up to female chintsy cheapness. I have used them routinely and often over that same period of time.
Many argue they already have the Pyrex dishes and why they cannot buy the carrier and hot/cold pacs separately. They work just great. I have referred many others to these devices and highly recommend them for use in carrying prepared foods to church "coffee hours", church picnics, and church potlucks.
It is a good, time tested, American made product. Stop whining and get your own Pyrex Portables.
Simply microwave the hot pack, slip it into its pocket, pop the lid on the casserole and pack it straight from the oven. If you cook main dishes to take places, this is a must-have. The handle makes the carrier easy to carry. The Pyrex casserole and lid are the same as the ones you can buy separately or with other collections: a great oven-to-table-to-fridge piece with no need for foil because of the sealing lid. The hot pack and insulated cover really keep things hot to take with you (still steamy at least 40 minutes out of the oven), and are convenient so you don't have to worry about spills or burns. There is room to pack a serving spoon, etc. There's a place for an ice pack if you're taking something chilled instead, but one is not included.
I bought one of these a few years ago and have not regretted it once. It travels great without any spills. I thought it was an impulse buy, but I use this thing all the time. It keeps hot food hot or cold food cold. I've had more people comment on it and want to know where I got it. It's hard to find in the store, so I was happy to find it on Amazon so I could buy it as gifts for friends.
